John Deere Power Systems launches new diesel engines at WorkBoat Show

WATERLOO, Iowa (November 24, 2008) — John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) will launch two new marine diesel engines at The International WorkBoat Show 2008 in New Orleans, Dec. 3 – 5. The PowerTech™ HazLoc 6081HFH70 and 6081AFH75 diesel engines are new additions to the John Deere lineup and meet the Class 1, Division 1 (Zone 1) weather-deck requirements for electronics as directed by the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

The 6081HFH70 will be on display at the WorkBoat Show, and John Deere will have three other marine diesel engines on display: the PowerTech 6068AFM75, 6081AFM75 and 6125AFM75. Additionally, a generator set powered by a John Deere PowerTech 6068TFM76 marine engine will be on display. All of these engines meet EPA marine Tier 2 and EU emissions requirements and are MARPOL Annex VI compliant.

"John Deere continues to expand the marine engine lineup to meet a wide variety of customer needs," said Dave Flaherty, marine marketing manager for John Deere Power Systems. "We designed the new 6081HFH70 and 6081AFH75 to meet the USCG requirements for electronics packages for Class 1, Division 1 (Zone 1) locations. The new HazLoc engines also maintain the legendary long-term reliability our customers have come to expect from John Deere marine engines and live up to the reputation our marine products have earned for rugged durability, fuel economy, quiet operation and ease of maintenance."

The new PowerTech 6081HFH70 on display at the WorkBoat Show has 8.1L of displacement and offers up to 246 kW (325 hp) at 2100 rpm. The 6081HFH70 is a six-cylinder, electronically controlled, turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled industrial engine for use in marine auxiliary applications. The new PowerTech 6081AFH75 also has 8.1L of displacement and offers up to 280 kW (375 hp) at 2400 rpm. It is a six-cylinder, electronically controlled, turbocharged and air-to-engine coolant aftercooled industrial engine for use in marine auxiliary applications. A typical use for these engines would be cargo pumping for transferring chemical and petroleum products.

Product highlights for the remaining engines on display at Pacific Marine Expo include:
