LENEXA, Kansas (August 07, 2008) – John Deere enhances the 1720 Stack-fold Planter with industry-leading Central Commodity System (CCS) technology.

"The 1720 stack-fold planter is very popular with row-crop producers," explains Chris Savener, John Deere seeding group project manager. "It is designed for optimum maneuverability and is the perfect configuration for strip-till operations. And now, we've added even more efficiency by adapting CCS to the 16-row, 30 inch, 1720 stack-fold planter."

This ultra-efficient combination allows growers to reduce the time needed to fill the planter with seed, maximizing the time spent in the field planting. Designed with an efficient folding system for easy transport, operators will be able to plant more acres in less time.

"CCS seed delivery adds more productivity with its bulk-fill capability and easy clean-up," explains Savener. "The large seed tanks allow an operator to load 100 bushels of seed at a time to keep the implement in the field planting, not refilling separate hopper boxes."

Pressurized air is used to carry seed to the row units for gentler handling. Corn, cotton, sunflowers, soybeans, and sorghum can all be planted with the CCS system.

"Clean-up is also a snap. When the operator has completed planting, seed can be easily removed via access doors at the bottom of the CCS tank. This is a quick and easy system that saves the operator time and money!" concludes Savener.

The 1720 Planter will also be fully compatible with the new RowCommand™ planter row control system which automatically turns on and off individual row units while planting on-the-go. This integrated system with CCS and RowCommand brings even more productivity to the new 1720 Stack-fold Planter.
