John Deere Announces Internal Realignment

Improved Customer Service and Product Offerings Will Result from Internal John Deere Landscapes, Commercial and Golf & Turf Coordination

Cary, N.C. (January 16, 2007) — Delivering on a commitment to its worldwide commercial customers, the John Deere Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division recently announced the realignment of three business units that provide products and services to professional landscape and irrigation contractors, turf managers, and golf and sports turf professionals.

John Deere Landscapes, John Deere Golf & Turf One Source™ and the company's professional mowing segment will now come under the direction of David Werning, president of John Deere Landscapes and now also, senior vice president, commercial segment, John Deere C&CE. Gregg Breningmeyer, director of sales and marketing for One Source and commercial segment marketing will continue in his position and report directly to Werning.

"Over the past few years, the Green Industry has witnessed a shift at John Deere," says Nate Jones, president, John Deere C&CE Division. "We have said we are committed to the commercial customer, and we continue to deliver – through new products, additional services and concrete business solutions. We created John Deere Landscapes to provide a place for professional landscapers, irrigation contractors, and turf managers to find solutions and products in one place; we introduced John Deere One Source to help superintendents become more efficient on the job; and we continue to build products that help commercial operators complete their jobs faster and smarter. Now, it is only natural that we complete the commitment to the commercial customer by realigning our commercial business and having Dave lead it."

Werning, a John Deere employee for more than 30 years, has a wide array of experience in the commercial segment and the Green Industry. He has held a number of positions in both the Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division and the Construction & Forestry Division, including division sales manager, overseas operations manager, business development director and for the past six years president of John Deere Landscapes.

"I'm looking forward to this new position and the increased responsibility," says Werning. "Through recent collaboration with Gregg Breningmeyer and his teams in golf and turf and professional mowing, we have identified key areas that should certainly help us make the commercial customer's operations simpler and more successful. I believe the industry will see great things out of this new alignment of our entire commercial business."
