"The 2005 John Deere World Championship was a great experience for everyone," says Mike Scaletta, tournament director. "The tournament is an opportune time for John Deere distributors and corporate personnel to create closer relationships with our customers and learn more about what they need from our company. It’s also a great opportunity for those customers, typically a golf course management team, to come together for team building and fun away from their respective courses."

Held from Dec. 7-10 at PGA West Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament Courses in Palm Springs, Calif., the championship featured a total of 49 teams. World Championship participants traveled from across the U.S. and from five different countries, including, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Australia, after winning their local tournaments, hosted by local John Deere golf distributors. The Pecos County Golf Course team was sponsored by Austin Turf & Tractor of Austin, Texas.

In addition to the tournament, attendees were treated to Sports Illustrated columnist and 10-time National Sportswriter of the Year winner, Rick Reilly, as keynote speaker at Saturday night's awards dinner. Participants also had an opportunity to attend a golf clinic hosted by renowned instructor Jim McLean, owner of the world-famous Jim McLean Golf School.
