JOHN DEERE IGUIDE ADDS ACCURACY WHEN FARMING ON SLOPES

LENEXA, KS (August 17, 2006) — Assisted-steering systems, such as John Deere GreenStar™ AutoTrac, have helped growers become more efficient in their operations by reducing passes through the field, saving fuel, and reducing operator fatigue. For operations on hillsides or contour field conditions, however, there is a tendency for slippage downhill by the implement that can take the machinery off track when making passes through the field. John Deere introduces iGuide, the new implement guidance system, to help overcome implement drift and bring more accuracy to AutoTrac operations.

"iGuide is a new system that shifts the tractor to guide an implement such as a field cultivator, planter, or pull-type sprayer over the correct path and automatically compensates for implement drift," says Seth Crawford, manager, marketing, AMS. "This system adds even more value to AutoTrac by increasing accuracy with every pass through the field. The end results are minimized skips and overlap and a reduction in overall input costs."

This new system is compatible with John Deere AutoTrac integrated vehicles with GreenStar™ 2 systems, except 9000 Series Tractors and tracked tractors. It will be available for limited release at a later date.
