2000  FieldVision lighting is introduced on John Deere tractors. The high-density xenon light improves operator visibility up to 300 percent.

2000  Deere invests $2 million (U.S.)to reduce solvent emissions from the painting operations by 95 percent at the Seeding Group and John Deere Harvester Cylinder Division operations in Moline, Illinois.

2000  The John Deere Waterloo (Iowa) Works earned the Iowa Recycling Association's Business Recycler of the Year Award.

2000  The U.S. Department of Energy recognized John Deere Power Systems, Waterloo, Iowa, through the Clean Cities National Award for promoting the use of alternative fuels in the marketplace.

2000  John Deere facilities in the United States received 18 awards from the U.S. National Safety Council for workplace safety.

2000  Sunbelt Outdoor Products, Charlotte, North Carolina, received the certificate of safety achievement, first year, gold award, form the North Carolina State Department of Labor.

2001  The Wisconsin Environmental Working Group (WEWG) awarded the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment to the John Deere Horicon Works, for its Rock River shoreline stabilization project.

2001  Industrias John Deere S.A. de C.V., Saltillao, Mexico, received a government program award for the maximum reduction level from the Health Admininstration Laws.

2001  John Deere and partner Design Manufacturing Systems (DMS) received the Clean Air Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the introduction of a fuel-efficient two-cycle engine.

2001  John Deere Arc les Gray, France, was awarded second place in the eighth annual Trophee des Technoligies Economes et Propres, awarded by ADEME, the French agency for environment and energy management.

2001  Sunbelt Outdoor Products, Charlotte, North Carolina, received the certificate of safety achievement, first year, silver award, from the North Carolina State Department of Labor.

2001  New headquarters for John Deere's Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division in Cary, North Carolina, received the Urban Conservation Award from the local Wake Soil and Water Conservation district.

2001  John Deere facilities in the United States, Canada, and South America received 62 awards from the U.S. National Safety Council.

2001  Cameco do Brasil, Catalao, Brasil, was recognized by the Social Service of the Industry of the State of Golas for Administration, Health, Environment, Education and Development, Leisure and Culture, and Social Responsibility for facilities with 100-499 employees.

2001  A Finnish coalition representing the Alholmens Kraft power plant and its biomass collection system, based on Timberjack technology, received second prize in the "Companies" category of the 2001 Energy Globe Award competition for outstanding initiatives in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources worldwide.

2002  Industrias John Deere S.A. de C.V. received VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) certification from the State of Coahuila's government for its outstanding health and safety program.

2002  John Deere Horicon Works received the John Brogan Environmental Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for waste reduction and pollution prevention.

2002  Pro-Visual, a leading producer of safety information resource charts, and FarmSafe, a non-profit Western Australian farm safety organization, awarded John Deere the first Farm Safety Award.

2002  The minister of Environment and Traffic from Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, recognized John Deere Werke Mannheim for "outstanding environmental performance". The Mannheim factory was selected from almost two dozen entrants who participated in intensive audits to qualify for the honor.

2002  Business Ethics magazine named Deere one of its 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2002, ranking the company 64th on its annual list, up three places from its 2001 ranking.

2002  Along with 16 other companies, John Deere was recognized as one of America's Safest Companies by Occupational Hazards magazine, a national publication for occupational safety and health professionals.

2003  John Deere was named as one of 44 recipients for the newly created MATERIALICA award, given by iF International Forum Design Hannover, Germany, for major advancement in the field of new and renewable materials.

2003  Business Ethics magazine again named John Deere one of its 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2003. In 47th place, Deere's ranking is improved over its 2002 ranking by 17 positions.

2003  Deere-Hitachi Construction Machinery Corporation, Kernersville, N.C., received a Safety Leadership Award from the (U.S.) National Safety Council for working five consecutive years without a lost time injury, from March 10, 1998 through March 11, 2003.

2003  John Deere Brasil was honored with the "Top Ser Humano" award from ABRH - Brasilian Association of Human Resources for its ergonomics program.

2003  John Deere Jialian Harvester Company Ltd., Jiamusi, China, was selected as the most environmentally conscious company in Jiamusi.

2003  John Deere Power Products, in Greenville, Tenn., was awarded the Volunteer STAR award by the state's Department of Labor and Workforce development.

2004  Environmental, safety and fire protection video developed by John Deere Waterloo (Iowa) Works for its contractors was selected as a winner at the 25th Annual Telly Awards, the premier award honoring the finest video and film productions.

2004 John Deere begins a formal company-wide safety and health audit program, conducted by teams of Deere safety personnel and independent third-party auditors.

2004 John Deere factories worldwide now have either ISO 14001 certification or a management system that meets the requirements of the John Deere environmental management system (EMS) standard, tailored to Deere's manufacturing processes.

2004 Deere & Company ranks sixth on Business Ethics magazine's annual listing of the "100 Best Corporate Citizens" – marking the fifth consecutive year Deere is featured on the list.

2004 Rainwater collection and a reuse environmental process at John Deere Fabriek Horst BV is recognized as an environmental best practice by Industry Week magazine.

2005 Seven John Deere facilities are named winners of the National Safety Council's Industry Leader Award, given to companies that achieve the best safety performance in their industries.

2005 A new wind energy business unit is established to finance Deere's wind harvesting investments, helping customers harness wind power and increase their productivity and profitability.

2005 John Deere starts using environmentally friendly two percent biodiesel blend, or B2, as the preferred factory fill in its U.S. factories that make diesel-powered equipment.

2005 The new John Deere 2500E Hybrid Tri-Plex Greens Mower is introduced - the industry's first hybrid golf course greens mower - with lower noise levels, better fuel efficiency, and virtually no possibility of environmentally unfriendly hydraulic leaks.

2005 The PowerTech Plus 9.0L engine receives the Diesel of the Year award from the European publication DIESEL magazine, recognizing the engine as the year's most innovative.

2005  John Deere Brazil is awarded the "Excellence in Social Management" prize by Editoria Expressao magazine, recognizing Deere for achieving excellent social management standards.

2006 The U.S. Safety Council presents 79 awards to 41 John Deere units for their safety performances.

2006 John Deere Welland Works in Canada surpasses 4.8 million employee hours without a lost-time injury, while John Deere Waterloo (Iowa) Works Foundry passes 4.4 million hours, Waterloo Works passes more than 18.7 million hours, John Deere's Zweibrucken, Germany, facility reaches 3.6 million hours and Deere's world headquarters surpasses 22 million hours without a lost-time injury.

2006 John Deere Davenport Works is accepted into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Performance Track program, a voluntary partnership that encourages and rewards top environmental performances among U.S. companies.

2006 Motores John Deere, Torreon, Mexico, earns Clean Industry certification by Mexico's Environment and Natural Resources Department, issued to businesses that pass an analysis of the environmental impacts of equipment and processes used in manufacturing and service.

2006 The United Soybean Board presents John Deere with its Outstanding Achievement Award for the company's biodiesel factory fill program.

2007 Deere announces it will work to reduce GHG emissions as part of its participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders program, a voluntary industry-government partnership. Under the program, Deere will announce a comprehensive, company-wide GHG reduction goal in 2008 to substantially reduce emissions.

2007 The U.S. National Safety Council presents 77 awards to John Deere units for their safety performances. Among them were the council's 2007 Leadership Award, which went to Deere's Waterloo (Iowa) Works for having the best safety record in the United States in the heavy manufacturing group (SIC Code 33). John Deere Turf Care in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, received the council's Perfect Record Award.

2007 Waterloo Works set a new company worldwide factory record by working 20.6 million hours without a lost-time injury.

2007 Deere & Company joins the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), an alliance of major businesses and leading climate and environmental groups calling for federal legislation requiring significant reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.

2007 John Deere's wind energy business has 12 wind energy projects in commercial operation across the United States, with another 15 projects under development.

2007 Deere & Company is among the top 10 percent of 1,100 publicly-traded U.S. companies ranked as corporate citizens by CRO (Corporate Responsibility Officer) magazine. John Deere appears in the top 100 for the seventh time in eight years.

2007 Deere & Company is chosen by Ethisphere Magazine for its list of the World's 100 Most Ethical Companies, recognizing Deere's commitment to ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility.
