Harvester performance and condition analysis system - TimberLink™ expands to the office

John Deere is introducing at FinnMETKO a new version of TimberLink™, a performance and condition analysis system for harvesters. With the TimberLink application, the performance and condition data of the forest machine can now be examined also in an office environment. A machine contractor can easily monitor the operations of one or more machines and ensure that they are running optimally. Data transfer from the forest machine can be done either by e-mail or e.g. a USB flash drive.

TimberLink makes it possible to monitor the machine's performance during normal tree harvesting; if desired, the operator can change also the machine's settings in order to optimize the machine's performance for a specific logging site.

TimberLink is also a tool in the preventive maintenance of forest machines because it collects and processes data about the machine's condition and performance. By measuring the performance level of the machine and its subsystems, it is possible to monitor the aging of various components and then schedule servicing measures, for example.

Productivity, uptime and low operating costs are key success factors for forest machine contractors:

Better productivity

  • makes it easier to detect changes in machine performance
  • helps in optimizing the machine settings

More uptime

  • enables preventive maintenance of the machine, for example a change in fuel consumption or productivity may indicate a need for servicing
  • makes troubleshooting faster

Lower operating costs

  • enables optimization of the machine's fuel economy, for example helps to analyze the reasons behind increased fuel consumption
