Redefine power with new advanced and ultimate levels of JDLink

John Deere's JDLink Machine Monitoring System helps you keep track of your construction equipment

John Deere's JDLink helps you keep track of your equipment 24/7.

The construction industry reflexively defines power in horsepower and hydraulic flow, but folks who manage fleets of equipment know different. They know real power springs from knowledge and information. For example, knowing if your machines are being productive or fully utilized can make you a very powerful person. The same could be said of the power that comes with knowing how much fuel a machine burns at different levels of operation or if it's being serviced at the proper intervals.

"Tell me something I don't know," you say? Granted, you could acquire this wealth of information by spending half your waking hours on your cell phone, but John Deere has something more  efficient in mind. With the introduction of the Advanced and Ultimate levels of JDLink — John Deere's latest entry into telematic technology — you can possess all this knowledge and power without leaving your desk. With the click of a mouse, "pearls of wisdom" like machine hours, geo-fencing (theft recovery), location tracking, and diagnostic trouble codes can also help increase your station in life.

Command. Control
"What do I have, eyes in the back of my head?" used to be the classic response from exasperated fleet managers. Today, the answer can be in the affirmative. These new versions of JDLink keep an eye on every relevant utilization detail at any given site at any particular moment. Now the fleet manager is empowered to be master of his universe by collecting, managing, and transmitting data.

John Deere Product Marketing Manager of Advanced Technology Ken Poppe gives us the lowdown. "Owners can set a virtual fence around a piece of equipment. If moved, JDLink sends an alert via e-mail or as a text message to the equipment manager's cell phone. But theft prevention is just the tip of the technological iceberg. Customers are demanding to learn more than 'Where's my tractor?' They want to know operational and productivity data in an easy-to-understand format. And that's exactly what JDLink Advanced and Ultimate deliver — in spades."

Multi-brand fleet intelligence
JDLink systems come standard on many models of machines. You can also have it field installed by your dealer on other machines, new and old, Deere and non-Deere. "Today's customer requires a telematics system that can be used with mixed fleets on every piece of equipment out on their projects," says Poppe. "We offer JDLink Standard, with basic operational data such as location and engine hours. It also has geo-fencing capability. Of course, all four systems — JDLink Standard, Advanced, Ultimate, and Direct — deliver ultimate fleet control for John Deere machines."

Seize total control
Are you ready for eyes-in-the-back-of-your-head insight into machine location, performance, maintenance, and efficiency? Get linked.  JDLink comes standard on all John Deere articulated dump trucks; 744J, 824J, and 844J Loaders; and 450D, 650D, and 850D Excavators.  Most other John Deere construction machines can be ordered with any of the JDLink systems as a very smart option.

Confidential: Only you see the data
Many contractors are suspicious of systems that deliver such exacting information about their machines. And it’s easy to see how a manufacturer could use such data to deny a contractor a warranty claim. So instead of skirting the issue, John Deere would like to clearly state without apprehension that only the contractor has access to JDLink machine data. After all, the fleet manager empowered by JDLink is truly the master of his universe.
