Hole 1 at TPC at Deere Run, home of the John Deere Classic golf tournament

History of the Course

The Tournament Players Club at Deere Run is home of the PGA John Deere Classic, held each year in July. Designed by PGA TOUR member and three-time Classic Champion D.A. Weibring, together with PGA TOUR Design Services, Inc., the course was built to comply with the stringent environmental requirements of Audubon International's Cooperative Sanctuary Program.

But long before golfers began traveling to this gorgeous land, Native Americans migrated there. They came to this western Illinois location for the bounty of wildlife, the proximity of the Rock River and for the natural beauty of rolling hills and wooden ravines.

In more recent years, the property became Friendship Farm - one of the top Arabian horse breeding operations in the United States. As a result, the property was maintained in its most natural beauty and provided a near perfect stetting for the course.

Today the course attracts golfers from around the country as a result of its luxurious natural setting and its world-class tournament.
