Equipment Corner: New Camouflage Gator™ XUV 4x4 (Fall 2008)

Camo Gator Looking for a fun new way to disappear into the woods? You may want to grab one of the limited-edition Gator XUV 4X4s now at your John Deere dealer. It's the same Gator XUV 4X4 that has been winning awards and head-to-head competitions, but now, for a limited time, it's outfitted with the REALTREE HARDWOODS HD® Camo pattern.

Underneath the professionally applied camouflage skin, you’ll find features that make a Gator XUV perfect for off-road travel—independent rear suspension for a superior ride, on-demand 4-wheel-drive for great control, a choice of gasoline or diesel engines, and a top speed of 30 mph.

Why camo? Hey it’s cool! "When you are part of John Deere, you get a little partial to green and yellow paint," admits Janet Schaeffer, John Deere tactical brand manager for Utility Vehicles. "But the response to our olive-and-black Gator XUV has been so positive, we decided why not take things a step further. So we worked with the people who make REALTREE camouflage to come up with a limited-edition model."

John Deere dealers loved the concept, and their early orders exceeded expectations. The limited-edition camo models have all been built and were shipped to John Deere dealerships through the late summer.

Going fast. "The initial customer reaction has been ecstatic," says Schaeffer. "We are expecting these camo models to disappear quickly—no pun intended. Right now there are discussions about developing other limited- edition Gator XUV models that would appeal to different market segments."

Like other Gator XUVs, these limited edition camouflage models can be outfitted with more than 100 attachments and accessories - from tool boxes to front blades to winches - all available from your John Deere dealer. The Gator XUV was designed and is manufactured at the John Deere Horicon Works in Horicon, Wisconsin.
