Give yourself a gift this holiday season

A snowthrower takes the work out of clearing snow

Homestead Snowthrowers make a perfect gift for the holidays—especially when you buy one for yourself. They make clearing snow fast and easy, and that's what you need around the holidays when you're busy with company. Snowthrowers come in single- and dual-stage models to match a variety of budgets and weather conditions, but which one is right for you? It depends on how much snow you get and how much area you need to clear.

Single-stage snowthrowers
A single-stage snowthrower will do the job if it snows a few inches at a time. These units have a smaller intake and a lower-horsepower engine than dual-stage models, making them best for clearing small driveways and sidewalks. You'll want a 4-cycle engine, which is much quieter than a 2-cycle engine. Also, you won't need to mix oil and fuel together for the 4-cycle engine, so it's more convenient. Single-stage units are lightweight and economical.

Dual-stage snowthrowers
If you regularly receive more than 8 inches of snow at a time, or if you have a big driveway and long sidewalks, then you need a dual-stage snowthrower. Horsepower varies among dual-stage units; the higher the horsepower, the easier it will handle wet, heavy snow. When choosing a size, keep in mind how much area you have to clear and how much time you want to spend clearing it. Larger intake sizes make clearing snow faster.

Frontier Dual-Stage Snowthrowers feature power-driven wheels to push through thick snow and makes maneuvering the snowthrower easier around the garage.

Easy starting
Most importantly, you want a snowthrower that's easy to start. All Frontier Snowthrowers have electric-start. You simply plug it in, push the button, and get working. For more information on Frontier Snowthrowers, visit your local John Deere dealer or www.BuyFrontier.com.
