John Deere Awards at the Sima Show

John Deere reaps Gold and Silver medals at this year’s SIMA show

March 02 - One gold and a silver medal at this year’s SIMA fair extend John Deere’s long list of innovation awards obtained at Europe’s key agricultural equipment trade shows. Following one gold and four silver medals for innovative hardware and software solutions at Agritechnica 2005, the innovation award at the 2006 Spanish FIMA show and the 2007 Tractor-of-the-year award in Italy, John Deere AMS products are the focus of the awards at this year’s SIMA event in Paris, France. Furthermore, John Deere 800i Sprayers received a special recognition by the French magazine "Agriculture & Nouvelles Technologies".

A SIMA Gold medal has been awarded to John Deere’s automatic headland management system “iTecPro”, which can be implemented on all John Deere tractors equipped with the AutoTrac guidance system.
Golden Medal for automatic headland management For the very first time in the industry, “iTecPro” combines a satellite based steering system with an active headland management system. Thus, “iTecPro” activates the entire headland turn of the tractor, including the handling of all implements, such as the PTO, hydraulic lift and differential lock engagement. In addition, turning radius and forward speed can be automated, whether or not the tractor is equipped with a front or rear hitch implement. The operator can either select the next possible pass, or he can save turning time by leaving passes out and closing these gaps later on.
A SIMA Silver medal has been awarded to John Deere HarvestLab, a Near Infrared Sensor used to measure the yield of a forager.
By using this sensor with the proven yield monitoring system Harvest Doc, it is possible to accurately record the dry matter content of the crop. The HarvestLab sensor can also be used for stationary feed analysis of different forage ingredients. This opens up entirely new opportunities for contractors, larger farms and even biogas plants to monitor crop yields, calculate invoices and optimize both livestock feed rations and biogas plant supplies. HarvestLab has been awarded a 2007 SIMA silver medal

A silver award issued by the French magazine “Agriculture & Nouvelle Technologies” has also been made to John Deere’s innovative 800i Series trailed sprayers, specifically for the new software package “GreenStar Sprayer PRO”.

These new sprayers incorporate 10 different innovative features designed to allow “intelligent” applications for environmentally friendly and economical field work. Sprayer PRO automatically monitors and manages a range of sprayer functions, from filling the tank and mixing the pesticides to controlling the boom, the spray application and the optimization of Fielded sprayer documentation.
