| John Deere Products awarded medals in Kazakhstan |

Two John Deere products were awarded special recognitions at the 10th International Agricultural Exhibition “AgroProdExpo” which was recently held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The three-day event was attended by 200 exhibitors from 15 different nations and hosted approximately 7,000 professional visitors. Based on the assessment of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Agriculture, a total of four medals were awarded to agricultural machinery, thereof two for John Deere products. One medal recognized the threshing system of John Deere STS combines as best rotary combine, the other medal awarded the 1895 Air Seeder as best seeder for no-till applications.
Kazakhstan is one of John Deere’s most important growth markets, outside the European Union. Key agricultural products are grain (mostly spring wheat), rape, barley, rice and cotton. As of today Kazakhstan is the World's 6th largest grain producer, with more than 16 million hectares under cultivation. The most important John Deere products sold to Kazakhstan are 9000Series tractors equipped with Air Seeders, grain combines and self-propelled sprayers. Many of these highly productive units are equipped with AMS products. “We have made great progress in this challenging business environment”, says Csaba Lejko, John Deere International’s regional sales manager. “Alone in Kazakhstan, we have reached a combine market share of approximately 40 %. Furthermore, two out of three tractors sold in this promising market are made by John Deere. In 2008, we estimate that 100 % of the tractors and sprayers we sell, will be equipped with AutoTrak”. John Deere’s distribution partner in Kazakhstan is EURASIA GmbH which operates its main service center in Kokchetau and has six regional outlets.
